Are you under cover?

Many times we need the protection of the Lord and Psalm 91:4 says it best.  "He will cover you with his feathers.  He will shelter you with his wings.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection"

Are you covered in prayer?

Once in a while our minds are attacked with negative thoughts and when they come, don’t let them take root in your heart.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that you can’t stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from building a nest on your head.

The same holds true when the enemy is attacking our minds.  We can’t stop the attack but we can surely defend ourselves with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Ephesians 6:17 says, “Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

God’s Word is infallible, unshakable, and everlasting.  Isaiah 40:8, tells us “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”  And then in 1 Peter 1:25 says, “But the word of the Lord remains forever.”

Our Lord Jesus Himself showed us what to do when we are under attack by the devil. Three times He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness. Each time, His response was the same—He quoted the written Word of God against each attack saying, “It is written”.

The only way to combat the enemy’s attacks, is to stick to the pattern that our Lord Jesus showed us.  Jesus did not point Satan to the spoken word of God. No, He declared each time, “It is written.” Now, if the Son of God used “it is written” to defeat the devil, how much more do you and I need to.
When fear and anxiety grips your heart or evil thoughts plague your mind, quote His written Word!
Another thing you can do is find scripture promises like, Philippians 4:6-7 which says, 'Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.'

There are many promises in the bible that we need to be speaking over our lives.

For example, if you are living in fear, remember Philippians 4:6-7 says, 'Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.'   How does that help your fear?  God's Word tells us that if we tell Him about our situations and expect Him to answer our prayers, (that's the faith filled requests part) being thankful, then a wonderful peace comes into our situation.

Think of all the things that cause us to worry.  Maybe you need more money to pay bills or your child is acting out and you don't know what to do or your relationship is rocky or you desire a relationship and it's just not happening.  Any or all of those things could be bombarding you at once and you're anxious about which way to turn.
Remember the story of Mary and Marsha and how Martha was upset because Mary wouldn't help her?  What did Jesus say to Martha?  He said she was worried about many things and that Mary was doing the right thing, sitting at his feet and concentrating on what He had to say.

I want to encourage you today to search His Word or listen to faith filled messages and begin to hide those promises in your heart.  I'm confident that today is the day you'll be set free!
